Signature Trainings
Transforming Understanding Into Meaningful Change
We believe meaningful growth begins with understanding ourselves and others. Our signature trainings are designed to challenge perspectives, encourage reflection, and equip participants with practical strategies that promote emotional well-being, connection, and meaningful change.
Grounded in clinical expertise and a commitment to compassionate, person-centered practices, our interactive learning experiences invite participants to look beyond surface-level challenges and explore the experiences, expectations, and emotions that shape how we navigate the world.
Whether supporting those who work with children and families or helping individuals and professionals navigate the weight of responsibility, our flagship programs create opportunities for deeper awareness, stronger connections, and sustainable growth.
Look Beyond the Behavior. Discover the Story.
Behavior tells us something, but it rarely tells us everything. Behind what we see are emotions, experiences, relationships, academic challenges, and unmet needs that may influence how students engage, learn, and respond in the classroom.
Every Behavior Tells a Story™ encourages educators to move beyond simply managing behaviors toward understanding what those behaviors may be communicating. Through engaging discussions, reflective activities, and practical applications, participants explore the connection between behavior, literacy challenges, and student engagement while developing intentional, compassionate strategies that support learning and maximize instructional time.
-
Student behavior can interrupt instruction, affect literacy engagement, and create additional challenges for educators. Yet what appears to be defiance, avoidance, or disengagement may reflect underlying academic, emotional, environmental, or developmental needs.
Understanding these connections helps educators move beyond reacting to behavior and toward creating more supportive, engaging learning environments.
-
Every Behavior Tells a Story™ draws on evidence-informed approaches to classroom management, student engagement, and relationship-centered practices.
The training explores four interconnected influences on student behavior:
✅ Academic: Learning difficulties, literacy challenges, and academic frustration.
✅ Emotional: Stress, anxiety, and emotional regulation.
✅ Environmental: Classroom climate, relationships, and school connectedness.
✅ Developmental: Executive functioning, communication, and self-regulation.
Participants learn to recognize these influences and apply practical strategies that support student engagement and classroom effectiveness.
-
Participants will learn to:
✅ Recognize behavior as a form of communication.
✅ Identify potential factors influencing student behavior.
✅ Understand the connection between literacy challenges and behavioral responses.
✅ Apply proactive strategies that strengthen engagement and reduce classroom disruptions.
✅ Develop practical approaches to protecting instructional time and supporting student success.

When the Cape Gets Heavy™
Sustainable Strength Beyond the Strong Black Woman Role
Exploring the Weight of Responsibility, Resilience, and Restoration
When the Cape Gets Heavy™ is a research-informed training and wellness framework that explores the impact of the Strong Black Woman/Superwoman role and the ways chronic responsibility can affect emotional, physical, relational, and psychological well-being.
-
Research on the Strong Black Woman and Superwoman Schema highlights how expectations around strength, self-sacrifice, and responsibility may influence the experiences and well-being of some African American women. These experiences can shape how stress is managed, how support is sought, and how emotional needs are expressed.
When the Cape Gets Heavy™ helps helping professionals explore this research and consider its implications for culturally responsive practice when working with African American women across clinical, educational, healthcare, and community settings.
-
At the heart of this training is the C.A.P.E. Framework™, an original, research-informed framework developed by Channing Clark to help participants better understand the responsibilities they carry and develop strategies for sustainable strength.
The framework encourages participants to examine how expectations, identity, caregiving, achievement, and service may influence their well-being while identifying pathways toward restoration, balance, and wellness.
Drawing from research on the Strong Black Woman and Superwoman Schema, as well as professional practice and lived experiences commonly discussed within the literature, the C.A.P.E. Framework™ provides a structured approach for reflection, learning, and discussion.
